Dr. Jayaprakash completed his B.Tech in Biotechnology at Anna University, India, before pursuing his Master's and Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Central Michigan University. During his doctoral studies, he investigated the pre-symptomatic deficits of neurotransmitter levels in Huntington's disease and conducted in-vivo neurophysiological examinations of transplanted neuronal stem cells using Optogenetics and ontophoresis in awake animals. His research employed advanced techniques such as optogenetics and electrophysiology with iontophoresis to evaluate different transplant types' efficacy in host integration and behavioral associations.

Following the completion of his Ph.D., Dr. Jayaprakash pursued his postdoctoral fellowship at Marquette University, where he honed his expertise in stem cell transplantation and dedicated his efforts to enhancing Corticospinal Tract Axon Regeneration through combined stem cell transplantation and gene therapy for the treatment of Spinal Cord Injury. He was recognized for his exceptional work in this field and was awarded the esteemed "Wings for Life" postdoctoral fellowship.

Dr. Jayaprakash is a Staff Scientist at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research. His primary focus is unraveling the intricate anatomical organization of vagal fibers within the human vagus nerve, specifically emphasizing their arrangement based on organ- and function-specific properties. His research has profound implications for developing groundbreaking therapeutic devices that modulate electrical activity in the vagus and other nerves. By precisely targeting the fibers that innervate specific organs, Dr. Jayaprakash's research aligns closely with the mission of SPARC, which aims to improve patient outcomes through innovative neuromodulation approaches.
