Bradley Barth, PhD, is a gut-brain scientist with a background in neural engineering. His main research interests are at the intersection of neural regulation of gastrointestinal physiology and modulating the nervous system for restoration of function. Dr. Barth earned his PhD in biomedical engineering from Duke University in the neural prosthesis lab led by Dr. Warren Grill, focusing on sacral nerve stimulation to treat colonic dysmotility. Dr. Barth then moved to the brain side of the gut-brain axis for his postdoctoral training with Dr. Erin Calipari in the Center for Addiction Research at Vanderbilt University, working on interoceptive contributions to central reward processing. Now, at Nudge, Dr. Barth combines neural engineering and in vivo imaging to help develop safe, accessible, and effective therapeutic neuromodulation.
