Temporal Context Recall

Temporal context recall is the ability to retrieve when an event occurred relative to other events, allowing behavior to be organized by sequence, recency, and past experience. It relies on changes in a slowly evolving mental context: as events unfold, each experience becomes associated with the current temporal state, and later retrieval is biased toward items sharing nearby contextual states, producing temporal clustering and order judgments. In behavioral research, this process helps explain episodic memory, serial-order effects, learning, and decisions shaped by recent outcomes. Measuring temporal context recall can reveal how organisms reconstruct experience and how disrupted timing or memory alters adaptive behavior.

Self Within Cultural Contexts

2025

Cultural frameworks for understanding the self are often categorized into two broad orientations: individualism and collectivism. These paradigms influence how people define themselves, relate to others, and interpret their social worlds. Each orientation offers distinct perspectives on autonomy, responsibility, and the role of the individual within a community.Individualistic CulturesIn individualistic cultures like North America and Western Europe, identity is understood as autonomous and...

Impact of Social Context on Individuals

2025

Social psychology examines how the real or imagined presence of others influences individuals' thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. A key concept in this field is the role of social context in shaping behavior. The same individual may act differently depending on the social setting, due to the varying expectations and norms associated with each environment. This context-dependent behavior illustrates the influence of social roles, which prescribe appropriate conduct in specific situations.Social...

The present work provides a comprehensive set of guidelines for manually tracing the medial temporal lobe (MTL) structures. This protocol can be applied to research involving structural and/or combined structural-functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) investigations of the MTL, in both healthy and clinical groups.
