Three-level Evaluation

Three-level evaluation is a structured approach for assessing behavior at three connected levels, helping researchers distinguish individual actions from the social and environmental conditions that shape them. It examines how behavioral patterns emerge through interactions among the person, other people or groups, and the surrounding setting, while comparing observations across levels for consistency and context. This framework supports more complete behavioral assessment than focusing on a single cause or outcome. Applications include identifying influences on behavior, evaluating interventions, interpreting changes over time, and designing responses that address individual, interpersonal, and environmental factors.

Evaluating the Effect of Continuous Drug Infusion into the Mouse Brain on Peripheral Glucose Levels

2025

This video demonstrates the effect of continuous drug infusion into the mouse brain on blood glucose levels. Glucose metabolism is assessed by collecting blood from a fasted mouse's tail and measuring glucose levels before and after oral glucose administration. Insulin tolerance is evaluated by injecting insulin in the mouse, with glucose levels recorded at specific intervals.

Controlled processes in human consciousness represent high-alert mental states where individuals deliberately focus their attention on achieving specific goals. Controlled processes can be seen in situations like mastering new technology, where a person might become so absorbed that they ignore surrounding distractions. Such processes involve selective attention, requiring one to concentrate on particular elements of experience while disregarding others. These are governed by executive...

Leveling Effect

2024

In acid-base chemistry, the leveling effect refers to the limitation imposed by the solvent on the strength of acids and bases in solution. When a base stronger than the solvent's conjugate base is used, it deprotonates the solvent until the base is entirely consumed, making it ineffective against weaker acids. Conversely, an acid stronger than the solvent's conjugate acid protonates the solvent until the acid is depleted, rendering it ineffective against weaker bases. Essentially, the solvent...
