Horseradish Peroxidase Staining

Horseradish peroxidase staining is a biochemical detection method that uses the enzyme horseradish peroxidase (HRP) to produce a visible signal, allowing researchers to locate or measure specific molecules. In the presence of hydrogen peroxide, HRP catalyzes the oxidation of a chromogenic or chemiluminescent substrate, generating a colored precipitate or light signal at the target site. Researchers commonly link HRP to antibodies or other probes for immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. The resulting signal provides information about molecular localization or abundance, making HRP staining a practical and sensitive tool for protein analysis and diagnostic research.
