Lc-ms Quantification

LC-MS quantification is an analytical method that measures the concentration of chemical compounds in a sample by combining liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry. Liquid chromatography separates components according to their interactions with the stationary and mobile phases, while the mass spectrometer ionizes separated molecules, measures their mass-to-charge ratios, and relates signal intensity to concentration using calibration standards or internal standards. In biochemistry, this approach supports sensitive and selective measurement of metabolites, peptides, lipids, drugs, and other biomolecules in complex biological samples. It enables quantitative studies of metabolic pathways, enzyme activity, biomarker levels, and pharmacological responses.

Invertebrate Lifespan Quantification

2023

Many animals naturally stop growing upon reaching adulthood, after which they undergo aging or "senescence" until dying. The amount of time between an organism\'s birth and death is called its lifespan, which can be influenced by various biological and environmental factors. By exposing organisms to different growth conditions, scientists can better understand the factors affecting lifespan. Flies and worms are ideal organisms to perform such experiments, given their short generation time and...

Here we describe a high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) assay to quantify the immunosuppressant tacrolimus in dried blood spots using a simple manual protein precipitation step and online column extraction.

Colorimetric Assay for Quantification of Lactate in Test Samples

2025

This video describes a colorimetric assay for lactate measurement in cell lysates by using the lactate dehydrogenase enzyme. This enzyme converts lactate into pyruvate, along with the conversion of NAD to NADH that reacts with tetrazolium dyes and gives a colored product that can be measured spectrophotometrically to quantitate the lactate.
