Remote Microscope Operation

Remote microscope operation is the control and use of a microscope from a separate location, allowing researchers to acquire and examine images without being physically beside the instrument. Through a networked interface, users can adjust instrument settings such as focus, magnification, illumination, and stage position while viewing transmitted images in real time. In biochemistry, this approach supports analysis of cells, tissues, and molecularly labeled samples, facilitates collaboration and teaching, and enables access to specialized microscopy systems. It can also improve experimental consistency by allowing image capture, instrument control, and observations to be coordinated across laboratories.

2015

The goal of this pilot study is to describe a protocol for the remotely-supervised delivery of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) so that the procedure maintains standards of in-clinic practice, including safety, reproducibility, and tolerability. The feasibility of this protocol was tested in participants with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Here, we present a protocol to measure, with high spatial resolution, the unsteady surface pressure in turbulent flows. This method demonstrates the construction of a remote microphone probe (RMP) and the determination of its frequency-dependent, complex transfer function. An analytical determination of the dynamic response is presented and validated.

Operating the Glovebox

2023

Robert M Rioux, Ajay Sathe, Zhifeng Chen, Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA A glovebox is an isolated enclosure that is designed to maintain an inert atmosphere. The manipulation of chemicals or apparatus is done via the use of gloves, which allow operation while still maintaining an inert atmosphere. A positive pressure is utilized to compensate for any passive leaks. Objects can be transferred in and out of the box using an antechamber that acts as an airlock between the box...
