Digital Prenatal Records

Digital Prenatal Records are electronic systems that organize and preserve maternal and fetal health information throughout pregnancy, improving continuity, accessibility, and coordination of care. They use structured data fields, longitudinal storage, and secure information exchange to integrate clinical histories, laboratory results, imaging, vital measurements, and treatment plans across visits and healthcare settings. In bioengineering, these records support the development of data-driven monitoring tools, predictive models, and clinical decision-support systems for identifying pregnancy risks and tracking fetal development. Standardized digital records can also strengthen research by enabling analysis of prenatal outcomes, evaluation of interventions, and more personalized approaches to maternal-fetal medicine.

Encephalopathy of prematurity encompasses the central nervous system abnormalities associated with injury from preterm birth. This report describes a clinically relevant rat model of in utero transient systemic hypoxia-ischemia and intra-amniotic lipopolysaccharide administration (LPS) that mimics chorioamnionitis, and the related impact of infectious stimuli and placental underperfusion on CNS development.

Measuring Engagement of Spectators of Social Digital Games

2021

We propose a methodology that enables measuring engagement of spectators in a social digital game combining physiological and self-reported data. As this digital game involves a group of freely moving people, the experience is filmed using a synchronizing technique that links physiological data with events in the game.
