Drug Testing Protocol

Drug testing protocols are standardized procedures for assessing a drug’s identity, concentration, biological activity, or safety under defined conditions, enabling reliable comparison across samples and laboratories. They typically specify sample preparation, controls, dosing or exposure conditions, assay readouts, and acceptance criteria; measured responses are then compared with reference standards or untreated controls to distinguish drug effects from experimental variation. In bioengineering, these protocols guide testing with engineered tissues, cell-based systems, biomaterials, and biosensors that model therapeutic performance or toxicity. Consistent procedures improve reproducibility, support candidate screening and quality assessment, and help translate laboratory measurements into evidence for safer, more effective drug development and advanced biomedical technologies.
