H&e Staining Verification

H&E staining verification is the process of confirming that hematoxylin and eosin staining has produced interpretable tissue sections, making it essential for evaluating engineered tissues and biological samples. Hematoxylin binds nucleic acids and typically colors cell nuclei blue-purple, while eosin stains cytoplasmic and extracellular proteins pink; verification examines contrast, uniformity, tissue integrity, and the absence of artifacts. In bioengineering, this quality check supports assessment of cell distribution, tissue organization, scaffold compatibility, and morphological changes after culture or implantation. Consistent verification improves confidence in histological interpretation and helps researchers compare tissue constructs across experiments.

Self-Evaluation: Self-Enhancement and Self-Verification

2020

Social psychologists have documented that feeling good about ourselves and maintaining positive self-esteem is a powerful motivator of human behavior (Tavris & Aronson, 2008). In the United States, members of the predominant culture typically think very highly of themselves and view themselves as good people who are above average on many desirable traits (Ehrlinger, Gilovich, & Ross, 2005). Often, our behavior, attitudes, and beliefs are affected when we experience a threat to our...

Strategies of Self-Presentation II: Self-Verification

2025

Self-verification is a fundamental psychological drive wherein individuals seek affirmation of their self-concept from others, striving for consistency between their internal self-view and external perceptions. This drive operates even when the self-concept is negative, influencing interpersonal behavior and feedback preferences in complex and often counterintuitive ways. Unlike the self-enhancement motive, which seeks positive evaluations, self-verification prioritizes coherence and...

DiRita1 1 Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, United States of America Bacteria are diverse microorganisms found nearly everywhere on Earth. Many properties help distinguish them from each other, including but not limited to Gram-staining type, shape and arrangement, production of capsule, and formation of spores. To observe these properties, one...
