Coherence Manipulation

Coherence manipulation is the deliberate control of phase relationships and coordinated behavior among waves, oscillations, or quantum states, a concept that can illuminate how organized dynamics arise in biological systems. It works by adjusting interactions, timing, coupling, or environmental conditions to preserve, enhance, reduce, or redirect coherence between system components. In biology, this framework helps researchers investigate energy transfer, molecular dynamics, and other processes in which collective behavior may influence function. Studying coherence manipulation can connect physical principles with biological mechanisms, improve interpretation of spectroscopic measurements, and guide the design of experiments involving light-harvesting complexes, biomolecules, and synthetic biological systems.

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment as a Useful Adjunctive Tool for Pneumonia

Cited by 50 •

2014

Pneumonia is one of the top ten leading causes of death in the U.S. Osteopathic manipulative techniques (OMT) may be utilized as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of pneumonia to enhance biomechanical and immune function; and ultimately, to reduce hospital stay, duration of antibiotics, incidence of respiratory failure, and mortality. In this video-article, we will review randomized controlled studies on the use of OMT in pneumonia patients, as well as demonstrate specific hands-on...

The technique of femtosecond four-wave mixing is described, including spectrally-resolved and time-resolved configurations. We illustrate the utility of this technique for the investigation of crucial physical properties in the III-V diluted magnetic semiconductors, afforded by its nonlinearity and high temporal resolution.

Optical Coherence Tomography Imaging for Assessing Uveitis in a Mouse Model
