Cornelia De Lange Syndrome

Cornelia de Lange syndrome is a rare genetic developmental disorder characterized by distinctive facial features, growth restriction, developmental delay, and differences affecting multiple organ systems. It most often results from variants in genes that regulate cohesin, a protein complex that helps organize chromosomes and control gene activity during development. Changes in cohesin function can disrupt embryonic growth and the formation of the nervous system, heart, limbs, and other tissues. Studying Cornelia de Lange syndrome supports genetic diagnosis, counseling, and individualized clinical care while providing broader insight into chromosome organization and developmental biology.

Langendorff Retrograde Heart Perfusion: An Ex Vivo Technique to Perfuse Isolated Mouse Heart

2025

In this video, we perform Langendorff retrograde perfusion of an isolated mouse heart. During the procedure, the cardiac activity of the heart is maintained by perfusing it retrogradely with a perfusion solution via the coronary arteries using a cannula inserted into the ascending aorta. The model is used to study the cardiac pathophysiology of the heart.

Conscious and Non-conscious Representations of Emotional Faces in Asperger's Syndrome

An EEG experimental protocol is designed to clarify the interplay between conscious and non-conscious representations of emotional faces in patients with Asperger's syndrome. The technique suggests that patients with Asperger's syndrome have deficits in non-conscious representation of emotional faces, but have comparable performance in conscious representation with healthy controls.

Mouse Model of Oleic Acid-Induced Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

The present protocol describes a lung injury model in mice using oleic acid to mimic acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). This model increases the inflammatory mediators on edema and decreases lung compliance. Oleic acid is used in the salt form (oleate) since this physiological form avoids the risk of embolism.

This manuscript describes the setup, implementation, and analysis of boldness, aggression, and shoaling in zebrafish and testing for the presence of a behavioral syndrome. A standardized approach for behavioral quantification will allow for easier comparison across studies. Modifications to this protocol are possible as each assay can be run individually.
