Enrichment Pcr

Enrichment PCR is a molecular biology technique that selectively increases the representation of specific DNA sequences within a complex sample, making low-abundance targets easier to detect and analyze. It uses sequence-specific primers and repeated cycles of denaturation, primer annealing, and extension by a thermostable DNA polymerase; targeted fragments accumulate exponentially, while non-target sequences are amplified less efficiently or excluded. Researchers apply enrichment PCR to isolate genes or genomic regions, prepare samples for sequencing, identify genetic variants, and improve detection of rare biological targets. By concentrating relevant DNA before downstream analysis, the method can increase sensitivity and reduce the complexity of genomic samples.

All animal procedures described here must be conducted in accordance with institutional animal ethics guidelines and approved by IACUC. All procedures must follow the principles of the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—and must be performed by trained personnel. Environmental enrichment involves objects and practices that encourage natural behaviors, improve psychological well-being, and promote better welfare in laboratory rodents. Environmental enrichment should be tailored to the...
