H2s Producing Bacteria

H2S-producing bacteria are microorganisms that generate hydrogen sulfide, a sulfur-containing gas, during metabolism, making them important participants in sulfur cycling and useful indicators of microbial activity. Under oxygen-limited conditions, many species reduce sulfate to sulfide during anaerobic respiration, while others release H2S by breaking down sulfur-containing compounds such as cysteine. In biology, researchers study these bacteria using culture-based tests, biochemical assays, and molecular methods to identify organisms and measure sulfide production. Their activity affects sediments, wastewater, gut environments, odor formation, metal corrosion, and environmental monitoring.

Source: Arias, S. L., et al. Fabrication of a Functionalized Magnetic Bacterial Nanocellulose with Iron Oxide Nanoparticles. J. Vis. Exp. (2016).This video demonstrates the production of nanocellulose by culturing cellulose-producing bacteria in a nutrient medium containing mannitol. The bacteria metabolize mannitol into glucose, which is then polymerized and extruded as glucan chains that crystallize into cellulose sheets, forming a three-dimensional matrix at the air–liquid interface. The...

The Producer Price Index

2025

Tracking producer-level price movements is a crucial element of economic analysis and business planning. The Producer Price Index (PPI) serves this purpose by capturing average changes in the prices domestic producers receive for their goods and services over time. As a forward-looking indicator, the PPI often signals inflationary pressures before they are felt by consumers.Understanding the Structure of the PPIUnlike consumer-focused indexes, the PPI is organized around the supply side of the...

A Method to Produce Recombinant Antibodies Against Metallopeptidase

2025

This video demonstrates a procedure for the production of recombinant antibodies against metallopeptidase. Recombinant plasmids carrying genes for the antibody, green fluorescent protein, and antibiotic resistance are transfected into epithelial cells with lipofectamine. The transfected cells are selected and cultivated to generate recombinant antibodies.
