High-throughput Analysis

High-throughput analysis is a set of methods that rapidly processes and measures large numbers of biological samples, molecules, or cellular features to reveal patterns that individual experiments may miss. It typically combines miniaturized assays, automated liquid handling, robotics, and computational data analysis, allowing many reactions or measurements to occur in parallel under standardized conditions. In biology, high-throughput analysis supports genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and drug-screening studies by comparing thousands of genes, compounds, or phenotypes efficiently. These approaches accelerate discovery, improve statistical power, and help researchers identify biological mechanisms, disease-associated signatures, and promising therapeutic candidates.

The combination of iterative-bleaching-extends-multiplexity (IBEX) and a commercial nucleotide labeling assay (Click-iT EdU) enables the detection and categorization of dividing cell types in highly dynamic processes in fixed frozen murine tissue sections. Furthermore, a novel open-source image processing pipeline provides high-throughput image acquisition and analysis.

2017

The island assay is a relatively new, cost-effective assay that can be used to evaluate the basic locomotor behavior of Drosophila melanogaster. This manuscript describes algorithms for automatic data processing and objective quantification of island assay data, making this assay a sensitive, high-throughput readout for large genetic or pharmacological screens.
