Lateral Circumflex Artery

The lateral circumflex artery is a branch of the profunda femoris artery that supplies blood to muscles and tissues of the lateral and anterior thigh. After arising near the proximal femur, it travels laterally and commonly divides into ascending, transverse, and descending branches, which course around the femur and form anastomoses with neighboring arteries. These vascular connections support oxygen and nutrient delivery to the quadriceps, hip, and surrounding soft tissues while providing collateral circulation around the hip and knee. Understanding its anatomy is important in biology, clinical imaging, orthopedic surgery, reconstructive procedures, and the assessment of thigh or femoral vascular injuries.

Lateralization

2024

Brain lateralization refers to the division of mental processes and functions between the two hemispheres of the brain, a phenomenon that optimizes neural efficiency and underpins complex abilities in humans. This specialization allows each hemisphere to perform tasks where it has a comparative advantage, facilitating more refined cognitive capabilities across different domains. • The left hemisphere is particularly proficient in managing logical and language-related activities. • It plays a...

Blood pressure monitoring is one of the essential vital signs, and for a majority of patients, measuring it utilizing non-invasive techniques provides accurate values. However, there are situations in which the blood pressure requires more exact, specific, and reliable measurements.
