Organ Failure Treatment

Organ failure treatment comprises medical strategies that restore, replace, or support the function of an organ that can no longer meet the body’s needs. Depending on the affected organ and severity of disease, care may combine medicines, procedures, mechanical support, replacement therapies such as dialysis, transplantation, or regenerative approaches; treatment works by correcting underlying injury, compensating for lost physiological activity, or introducing functional tissue. In biology and medicine, studying these interventions helps explain organ function, immune compatibility, tissue repair, and disease progression. Advances in transplantation, bioengineering, and cell-based therapies may improve long-term outcomes and expand options for patients with severe organ dysfunction.

Treatment for Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: Oxygen Therapy for Respiratory Failure

2024

Oxygen therapy has emerged as a significant tool in enhancing the quality of life for patients suffering from pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). While this therapy has principally been studied on patients with significant hypoxemia, this therapeutic approach helps prevent potential organ damage and can be administered in the comfort of one's home. Oxygen therapy is vital in increasing and maintaining blood oxygen levels in PAH patients. As a result, it aids in reducing fatigue, improving...

Here, we provide a useful approach for studying the mechanism of right ventricular failure. A more convenient and efficient approach to pulmonary artery constriction is established using surgical instruments made inhouse. In addition, methods to evaluate the quality of this approach by echocardiography and catheterization are provided.

We sought to establish a swine model of heart failure induced by left circumflex artery blockage and rapid pacing to test the effect and safety of intramyocardial administration of stem cells for cell-based therapies.

Inspiratory Muscle Training as an Adjunct to the Treatment of Weaning Failure in Critically Ill Patients: A Practical Guide

2026

Respiratory muscle weakness is highly prevalent in patients weaning from mechanical ventilation. Resistive inspiratory muscle training (IMT) can improve inspiratory strength and potentially weaning outcomes. This protocol provides a structured approach to offer IMT to selected patients based on the best available knowledge, facilitating its wider application in critical care.
