Postoperative Monitoring

Postoperative monitoring is the systematic assessment of a patient’s biological and physiological status after surgery, helping clinicians identify complications and evaluate recovery. It combines repeated measurements of vital signs, pain, consciousness, wound condition, fluid balance, and relevant laboratory results to detect changes from expected postoperative patterns. In biology and clinical research, these observations reveal how tissues and organ systems respond to surgical stress, anesthesia, and treatment. Timely recognition of infection, bleeding, impaired oxygenation, or altered organ function supports prompt intervention, improves patient outcomes, and provides data for evaluating surgical techniques and recovery protocols.
