Staining Procedure

A staining procedure is a laboratory method that uses colored dyes to increase contrast and reveal the structure, composition, or organization of biological specimens. Typically, a sample is fixed to preserve its features, treated with one or more stains, and sometimes differentiated or counterstained so dyes bind selectively to cellular components such as nucleic acids, proteins, membranes, or cell walls. In biology, staining supports light-microscope examination, cell identification, tissue classification, and the detection of microorganisms or structural changes associated with disease. By making otherwise transparent specimens visible, it connects microscopic appearance with biological function and experimental interpretation.
