Testis Anatomy

Testis anatomy describes the structure and organization of the testes, male reproductive organs that produce sperm and secrete hormones essential for reproduction and development. Each testis contains tightly coiled seminiferous tubules, where germ cells develop into sperm with support from Sertoli cells, while Leydig cells in the surrounding tissue produce testosterone; ducts then transport sperm toward the epididymis for maturation and storage. Understanding these compartments and their connections helps explain spermatogenesis, endocrine regulation, fertility, and disorders affecting reproductive function. Testis anatomy also provides a foundation for interpreting histological sections, clinical examinations, and research in reproductive biology.

Human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) have the potential to treat a myriad of different diseases. The utility of these cells lies in the fact that they can differentiate into any cell type in the body. Here we describe the teratoma assay, which is used to demonstrate the pluripotence of hPSCs.

Protocols for germ cell transplantation and testis tissue xenografting are described. Germ cell transplantation results in donor-derived spermatogenesis in recipient testes and represents a functional reconstitution assay for identification of spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs). Testis tissue xenografting reproduces testis development and spermatogenesis of various donor species in recipient mice.

Anatomy of the Eyeball

The eye is a spherical, hollow structure composed of three tissue layers. The outer layer — the fibrous tunic, comprises the sclera — a white structure — and the cornea, which is transparent. The sclera encompasses some of the ocular surface, most of which is not visible. However, the 'white of the eye' is distinctively visible in humans compared to other species. The cornea, a clear covering at the front of the eye, enables light penetration. The eye's middle layer, the vascular tunic,...

The human tooth enables us to eat a variety of foods, speak clearly, and even aid in shaping our faces. Teeth are composed of various elements that work together. Here's a detailed look at the anatomy of a human tooth. The Crown, Neck, and Root The visible part of the tooth is referred to as the crown. It's covered by enamel, the hardest substance in the human body. The crown is uniquely shaped for each type of tooth, allowing for different functions such as cutting, tearing, or grinding food.

The human digestive system is an intricate and essential network for nutrient absorption and waste elimination. It encompasses the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and several accessory organs. Here's a detailed walkthrough of this complex system: Oral Cavity: The starting point of the digestive process. It comprises lips, cheeks, teeth, and salivary glands within mucous membranes. It extends to the soft palate, the floor of the mouth, and the tongue. Pharynx: It is a tubular...
