Tissue Specific Imaging

Tissue-specific imaging is the visualization of selected tissues, structures, or molecular features within a biological specimen or organism, enabling researchers to distinguish them from surrounding regions. It works by combining imaging modalities with tissue-selective signals, such as fluorescent labels, stains, or targeted contrast agents that accumulate in or bind to characteristic cellular components. In biology, these approaches reveal tissue architecture, cell distribution, molecular activity, and changes associated with development, injury, or disease. Tissue-specific imaging supports anatomical mapping, functional studies, disease characterization, and evaluation of experimental treatments, while improving the ability to connect cellular mechanisms with whole-tissue outcomes.

Spectral Iterative Bleaching Extends Multiplexity (IBEX) builds upon the base IBEX technique by adding heparin blocking to minimize nonspecific binding and leveraging spectral detection with computational unmixing to suppress autofluorescence. This approach accelerates image acquisition while reducing sources of background, enabling robust multi-round, high-parameter spatial proteomic analyses.

A Web-Based Workflow for Selecting Gene- and Tissue-Specific Enhancers

2025

We present a coding-free workflow for biologists to identify tissue-specific gene enhancers using only browser-based tools. Our protocol leverages public H3K4me1/H3K27ac histone marks and Hi-C data, enabling researchers without programming expertise to access, analyse, and identify potential regulatory elements associated with their genes of interest.
