Trapezoidal Method Application

The trapezoidal method is a numerical integration technique that estimates the area under a curve, making it useful when biological data are available as discrete measurements rather than an exact equation. It divides the interval into smaller sections and approximates each section with a trapezoid, calculating its area from the interval width and the average of the function values at its endpoints. In biology, this approach can estimate cumulative quantities such as exposure over time or the area under a measured growth or concentration curve. Its accuracy generally improves as the intervals become smaller, supporting quantitative analysis of experimental data.

Here we present, and contrast two protocols used to decellularize plant tissues: a detergent-based approach and a detergent-free approach. Both methods leave behind the extracellular matrix of the plant tissues used, which can then be utilized as scaffolds for tissue engineering applications.
