Zebrafish Xenograft

Zebrafish xenograft is an experimental technique in which cells or tissues from one species, commonly human cancer cells, are introduced into zebrafish to study their behavior in a living organism. Researchers typically transplant labeled cells into embryos or larvae, where the transparent body and developing tissues allow real-time imaging of cell survival, migration, invasion, and interactions with the host environment. This model supports cancer biology by enabling rapid analysis of tumor growth, metastasis, angiogenesis, and responses to candidate therapies, while using relatively small numbers of animals. Its accessibility and imaging potential make it valuable for investigating disease mechanisms and accelerating preclinical research.
