Luer-lock Syringe

A Luer-lock syringe is a laboratory and clinical device that uses a standardized, threaded connection to secure a needle, catheter, or other compatible fitting to the syringe barrel. As the collar twists onto the matching Luer tip, the connection locks in place and helps maintain a stable, leak-resistant pathway for drawing up or delivering liquids. In cancer research, Luer-lock syringes support controlled administration of experimental therapeutics, collection of biological samples, and preparation of reagents for cell-based and animal studies. Their secure connection can improve handling consistency and reduce accidental needle separation during precise laboratory procedures.

Self-Locking Screw

A square-threaded screw jack is a mechanical device widely used for lifting heavy loads or applying considerable force. One of the key features that can make a screw jack more effective and reliable is its self-locking capability. A square-threaded screw jack carrying a load is considered self-locking if the screw retains its position even after the moment applied to it is removed. This occurs when the frictional force direction reverses, and the reaction force acts on the other side of the...

(2022)This video demonstrates a syringe-based pressure method for extracting apoplastic bacteria, which proliferate and form microcolonies within the apoplast, the intercellular space between plant cells. The method yields debris-free bacterial samples suitable for downstream single-cell analysis.

Automation of Mode Locking in a Nonlinear Polarization Rotation Fiber Laser through Output Polarization Measurements

A protocol to detect and automate mode locking in a pre-adjusted nonlinear polarization rotation fiber laser is presented. The detection of a sudden change in the output polarization state when mode locking occurs is used to command the alignment of an intra-cavity polarization controller in order to find mode-locking conditions.
