Robotic Pancreatic Surgery

Robotic pancreatic surgery is a minimally invasive operative approach that uses a robotic platform to assist surgeons in removing or treating diseased pancreatic tissue, including tumors. Through small abdominal incisions, the system translates the surgeon’s hand movements into precise instrument actions, while providing magnified, three-dimensional visualization and articulated control around complex anatomy. In cancer research and care, robotic procedures may support operations such as pancreatic resections and lymph-node assessment, with the potential to reduce surgical trauma and improve access to difficult anatomical regions. Studying these techniques helps evaluate safety, recovery, treatment selection, and their role in advancing precision surgery for pancreatic cancer.

2025

This protocol presents a method for performing a parenchymal sparing robotic-assisted lateral pancreaticojejunostomy intended for appropriately selected patients with a pancreatic duct obstruction without significant inflammation of the pancreatic head. This article demonstrates critical aspects of the operation in a minimally invasive, robotic fashion to treat recurrent acute/chronic pancreatitis.

Robotic Duodenum-preserving Total Pancreatic Head Resection for Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasms
