Scalp Sensitivity Management

Scalp sensitivity management is the assessment and care of discomfort, irritation, tenderness, or itching affecting the scalp, a relevant supportive-care concern for people receiving cancer treatment. Symptoms may develop when chemotherapy or radiotherapy contributes to inflammation, dryness, hair loss, or disruption of the skin barrier; management typically combines trigger assessment, gentle cleansing, avoidance of irritating products, moisturization, and clinician-guided treatments when needed. In cancer research, standardized symptom monitoring and supportive interventions help reduce treatment burden, protect scalp health, improve comfort and quality of life, and guide the development of more tolerable therapies and patient-centered care protocols.

Development of an effective brain-machine-interface (BMI) system for restoration and rehabilitation of bipedal locomotion requires accurate decoding of user's intent. Here we present a novel experimental protocol and data collection technique for simultaneous non-invasive acquisition of neural activity, muscle activity, and whole-body kinematics during various locomotion tasks and conditions.

All animal procedures described here must be conducted in accordance with institutional animal ethics guidelines and approved by IACUC. All procedures must follow the principles of the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—and must be performed by trained personnel. Monitoring Animals for Signs of Pain and Distress Recognizing early signs of pain is essential for ethical animal research. Animals are routinely monitored using behavioral, physical, and physiological parameters that reflect...

Dye-sensitized Solar Cells

Source: Tamara M. Powers, Department of Chemistry, Texas A&M University Today's modern world requires the use of a large amount of energy. While we harness energy from fossil fuels such as coal and oil, these sources are nonrenewable and thus the supply is limited. To maintain our global lifestyle, we must extract energy from renewable sources. The most promising renewable source, in terms of abundance, is the sun, which provides us with more than enough solar energy to fully fuel our...
