Transducer Array Placement

Transducer array placement is the deliberate positioning and orientation of multiple ultrasound elements to control how acoustic energy is transmitted, received, and focused. By coordinating element spacing, alignment, timing, and signal phase, researchers can shape the acoustic field, steer beams, and improve spatial resolution or treatment targeting. In cancer research, this approach supports ultrasound imaging, tumor characterization, and focused ultrasound studies in which energy must reach a defined lesion while limiting exposure to surrounding tissue. Careful placement also improves measurement consistency and helps investigators evaluate tumor response, drug delivery, or tissue effects in experimental and clinical systems.

Source: Sharon Bord, MD, Department of Emergency Medicine, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Maryland, USA When monitoring patients, it is important to obtain values that are accurate and reliable. Blood pressure monitoring is one of the essential vital signs, and for a majority of patients, measuring it utilizing non-invasive techniques provides accurate values. However, there are situations in which the blood pressure requires more exact, specific, and reliable measurements.

Source: Julianna Jung, MD, FACEP, Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Maryland, USA For unstable patients requiring urgent administration of medications, fluids, or blood products, establishing vascular access quickly is essential. However, there are many factors that can complicate placement of a peripheral intravenous cannula (PIV), and it is extremely common for PIV attempts to fail. PIV placement may be technically challenging in small...

Source: Shreyas Narsipur, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC Fluid pressure is an important flow characteristic that is required to determine the aerodynamics of a system. One of the oldest and still existing pressure measurement systems is the manometer due to its accuracy and simplicity of operation. The manometer is generally a U-shaped glass tube that is partially filled with liquid, as shown in Figure 1. The U-tube manometer requires no...
