Ventral Lobes

Ventral lobes are anatomical subdivisions located on the underside, or ventral surface, of an organ or body structure, with their identity and function depending on the organism and tissue studied. Researchers define these regions through anatomical landmarks, imaging, dissection, and tissue-specific molecular markers, then compare their cellular composition and behavior with neighboring lobes. In cancer research, distinguishing ventral lobes can support accurate tumor mapping, sampling, and analysis of regional differences in proliferation, invasion, or treatment response. This anatomical framework helps connect spatial organization with disease mechanisms and improves the interpretation of experimental models and pathological specimens.

This video describes a technique to harvest individual lobes from the prostate gland of a mouse model. Individual lobes can then be used for histological analysis and cancer research.

Co-culturing of Ventral Hippocampal and Nucleus Accumbens

This video demonstrates the process of preparing ventral hippocampal and nucleus accumbens tissues from mouse brains for co-culture. Neurons extend projections to form synaptic connections between the ventral hippocampal and nucleus accumbens tissues. This method allows studying neuronal interactions between these two brain regions, offering insights into cognition, behavior, and neurological disorders.

The cerebral cortex, a critical structure of the brain, is intricately divided into two hemispheres, each consisting of four distinct lobes: occipital, temporal, frontal, and parietal. These lobes function cooperatively to regulate various cognitive and sensory functions, forming the basis of our complex neural capabilities. Frontal lobe The frontal lobes, located behind the forehead, are the command center of our brain, controlling personality, intelligence, and voluntary muscle movements.

Ectopic expression is one technique to elucidate the microRNAs role in brain development. However, targeting specific areas using in ovo electroporation is challenging. Here, we show an efficient way to selectively electroporate ventral and dorsal midbrain regions.

This manuscript describes methods associated with creation and repair of a ventral abdominal wall defect (hernia). This model can be used to study repair strategies such as those that use implanted materials. In this manuscript, repair of the experimental hernia with porcine small intestinal submucosa is presented as an example.
