Food Science Technology

Food Science Technology is the application of scientific principles to understand, process, preserve, package, and evaluate food, helping improve its safety, quality, nutrition, and shelf life. In chemistry, it examines how molecules such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, water, and additives interact during processes including heating, fermentation, emulsification, and oxidation, producing changes in flavor, texture, color, and stability. These principles support the development of safe and appealing foods, the control of chemical and microbial deterioration, and the design of improved processing and packaging methods. Food science technology also connects laboratory analysis with industrial production and emerging approaches to sustainable food manufacturing.
