Gamma Emission

Gamma emission is the release of high-energy electromagnetic radiation from an unstable atomic nucleus, providing a window into nuclear structure and radioactive decay. It occurs when a nucleus in an excited state transitions to a lower-energy state, often after alpha or beta decay, while emitting a gamma photon without changing its atomic number or mass number. In chemistry, characteristic gamma energies help identify radioactive isotopes and follow nuclear transformations. Gamma emission also supports medical imaging, cancer radiotherapy, industrial tracing, and materials analysis, although its penetrating radiation requires careful shielding, monitoring, and controlled handling.

Emission Spectra

2020

When solids, liquids, or condensed gases are heated sufficiently, they radiate some of the excess energy as light. Photons produced in this manner have a range of energies, and thereby produce a continuous spectrum in which an unbroken series of wavelengths is present. In contrast to continuous spectra, light can also occur as discrete or line spectra having very narrow linewidths interspersed throughout the spectral regions. Exciting a gas at low partial pressure using an electrical current,...

Evoked Gamma Oscillations for the Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease

Begin with a patient diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, wearing a gamma therapy stimulation device. The device consists of an eye-set and headphones.Using the controller, activate the device to deliver auditory and visual stimulation. The visual component emits flickering light at a gamma frequency, while the auditory component produces synchronized sound pulses.Gamma oscillations are brain waves generated by synchronized neuronal firing, crucial for cognition and memory. In AD, these...

Metal Flame Emission - Concepts

Metal Flame Emission Flame testing is an analytical technique where a sample is placed in a flame, and the characteristic flame color is used to identify the substance. Each element has a characteristic light emission when placed into a flame, meaning each element produces a unique color. This phenomenon is used in fireworks displays, where the color of the fireworks corresponds to a specific characteristic of a metal. The emission of colored light from a burning sample is the direct result of...

Intravital Visualization of Gamma Delta Intraepithelial Lymphocytes

This video demonstrates the visualization of γδ intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs) in transgenic mice using confocal microscopy. The surgical procedure involves creating a perforation line and making a longitudinal incision to expose the intestinal mucosa and villi. The transgenic mice express reporter proteins exclusively in γδ IELs, allowing their tracking. Intravital imaging captures the dynamic movement of green fluorescence-labeled γδ IELs along the intestinal epithelial cell's basement...
