Hydrogel Film Preparation

Hydrogel film preparation is the chemical and physical process of forming thin, flexible films from hydrophilic polymers that can absorb and retain large amounts of water. Typically, a polymer solution or dispersion is cast into a layer, followed by solvent removal and physical or chemical crosslinking that creates a three-dimensional network while preserving film integrity. By adjusting polymer composition, crosslink density, thickness, and drying conditions, researchers can control swelling, strength, permeability, and degradation. These tunable properties support applications in drug delivery, wound dressings, tissue engineering, sensors, and separation membranes, making hydrogel films valuable materials for chemistry and related fields.
