Product Release Rate

Product release rate is the speed at which a chemical reaction generates and releases a product, making it a key measure of reaction progress and chemical kinetics. It is determined by tracking the change in product concentration over time, with factors such as reactant concentration, temperature, catalysts, and reaction mechanism influencing the measured rate. Chemists use product release rates to establish rate laws, compare reaction conditions, and identify steps that control overall reactivity. This analysis supports applications ranging from optimizing industrial synthesis and catalytic processes to evaluating reaction stability, efficiency, and environmental transformation pathways.

2014

To achieve population suppression of Aedes aegypti using the RIDL® (Release of Insects carrying a Dominant Lethal) system, large numbers of male mosquitoes need to be released. This requires the use of mass rearing techniques and technology to provide reliable systems to obtain the maximum number of high quality male mosquitoes.

Measurement and Analysis of Extracellular Acid Production to Determine Glycolytic Rate

2015

Glycolysis is a defining metabolic marker in multiple biological systems. Monitoring glycolysis by measuring the extracellular flux of H+ is common, but requires correction to be quantitative and unambiguous. Here, we demonstrate how to gather and correct extracellular flux data to distinguish between respiratory and glycolytic sources of extracellular acidification.

Modified-Release Drug Delivery Systems: Rate-Programmed I

2026

Rate-programmed drug delivery systems (DDS) are designed to release drugs at specific, controlled rates to maintain consistent therapeutic levels. These systems are categorized based on their release mechanisms, including dissolution-controlled DDS, diffusion-controlled DDS, and combined dissolution-diffusion-controlled DDS.In dissolution-controlled DDS, the release rate depends on the slow dissolution of the drug itself or the surrounding matrix. Drugs with inherently slow dissolution rates,...

Modified-Release Drug Delivery Systems: Rate-Programmed II

2026

Rate-programmed drug delivery systems release drugs in a controlled manner to maintain therapeutic levels. Three main designs include reservoir, matrix, and hybrid systems.Reservoir systems consist of a drug core enclosed within a membrane that controls drug release. In non-swelling reservoir systems, polymers like ethyl cellulose or polymethacrylates are used. These do not hydrate in aqueous media and control release through membrane thickness, porosity, or insolubility. This type includes...
