Syn Coplanar

Syn-coplanar describes a molecular arrangement in which two bonds, atoms, or substituents lie in the same plane and point in the same direction, giving a dihedral angle of approximately 0°. This geometry occurs when rotation aligns the relevant groups, often producing an eclipsed conformation and affecting steric and electronic interactions. In organic chemistry, identifying syn-coplanar relationships supports conformational analysis and helps explain stereochemical outcomes in reactions such as eliminations, where the spatial alignment of a C–H bond and a leaving-group bond influences whether bond formation and cleavage can occur. Recognizing this arrangement is therefore important for interpreting molecular structure and reaction mechanisms.

Coplanar Forces

2025

Consider an object upon which multiple forces are acting. If the lines of action of each force lie within the same plane, the system can be considered coplanar. The Cartesian vector form can be used to resolve each force into its respective components. For a coplanar system, the system will be in equilibrium if each component of the resultant force equals zero and the resultant force on the system is zero. If the sum of the forces is not equal to zero, then the object will not be in equilibrium...

2015

Stereotactic ablative body radiation therapy (SBRT) involves the precise delivery of high-dose radiation to cancer tumor targets. A novel SBRT platform offers a first-of-its-kind gimbaled radiation accelerator mounted within a pivoting O-ring gantry capable of dynamic image-guided tumor tracking. Here, we describe dynamic tumor tracking for lung targets.

Generalized Psychophysiological Interaction (PPI) Analysis of Memory Related Connectivity in Individuals at Genetic Risk for Alzheimer's Disease

This manuscript describes how to implement a psychophysiological interaction analysis to reveal task-dependent changes in functional connectivity between a selected seed region and voxels in other regions of the brain. Psychophysiological interaction analysis is a popular method to examine task effects on brain connectivity, distinct from traditional univariate activation effects.

We present a protocol to perform subtractive patterning of live cell monolayers on a surface. This is achieved by local and selective lysis of adherent cells using a microfluidic probe (MFP). The cell lysate retrieved from local regions can be used for downstream analysis, enabling molecular profiling studies.

Assessing Spinal Cord Compression Using Diffusion Tensor Imaging

Source: Zheng, W. et. al., Diffusion Tensor Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Chronic Spinal Cord Compression. J. Vis. Exp. (2019)This video demonstrates diffusion tensor imaging in assessing chronic spinal cord compression. By analyzing water diffusion patterns, fractional anisotropy, and apparent diffusion coefficient values, the findings reveal axonal damage in compressed regions. The findings provide critical insights into spinal cord pathology and structural integrity.
