Zinc Particle Annealing

Zinc particle annealing is a controlled heat-treatment process that modifies the structure and properties of zinc particles without fully melting them. When heated below zinc’s melting point, atoms diffuse across particle surfaces and contacts, promoting neck growth, reduced defects, grain rearrangement, and improved cohesion; the surrounding atmosphere can also influence surface oxidation. These changes can alter particle size distribution, porosity, crystallinity, electrical behavior, and chemical reactivity. In chemistry and materials research, annealed zinc powders support studies of sintering, metallic interfaces, powder processing, and performance optimization in applications requiring controlled particle morphology and surface properties.
