Aspiration Prevention

Aspiration prevention comprises clinical strategies that reduce the entry of food, liquids, saliva, or gastric contents into the airway and lungs, helping prevent respiratory complications. It works by identifying impaired swallowing or airway protection, then applying measures such as upright positioning, supervised feeding, modified food or liquid textures, oral care, and appropriate management of secretions. In clinical practice, nurses, speech-language pathologists, physicians, and caregivers use these approaches for patients with dysphagia, neurological disease, reduced consciousness, or weakened cough reflexes. Effective prevention can lower the risk of aspiration pneumonia, support safer nutrition and hydration, and guide individualized care planning.

Cancer Prevention

Several factors can increase the risk of cancer in an individual. About 50% of cancer cases can be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle, regular exercise, eating healthy, and following a modest cancer prevention diet. Epidemiological studies have consistently shown that populations with vegetable and fruit-rich diets have reduced the incidence of cancer. On the other hand, populations who have a diet rich in animal fat, red meat, junk food, or high calories are predisposed to cancer. Some...
