Temporal Factors

Temporal factors are time-related variables that influence how biological processes, clinical observations, and interventions develop or produce effects. In clinical settings, timing can alter measurements and outcomes through disease progression, circadian rhythms, treatment duration, exposure intervals, and the sequence of diagnostic or therapeutic events. Considering when symptoms begin, samples are collected, or treatments are administered helps clinicians interpret findings and distinguish transient changes from meaningful trends. Temporal analysis supports earlier diagnosis, individualized treatment scheduling, longitudinal monitoring, and more accurate evaluation of therapeutic response, making time an essential dimension in clinical research and evidence-based patient care.

Transcription Factors

2019

Tissue-specific transcription factors contribute to diverse cellular functions in mammals. For example, the gene for beta globin, a major component of hemoglobin, is present in all cells of the body. However, it is only expressed in red blood cells because the transcription factors that can bind to the promoter sequences of the beta globin gene are only expressed in these cells. Tissue-specific transcription factors also ensure that mutations in these factors may impair only the function of...

The present work provides a comprehensive set of guidelines for manually tracing the medial temporal lobe (MTL) structures. This protocol can be applied to research involving structural and/or combined structural-functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) investigations of the MTL, in both healthy and clinical groups.

Inter-cellular communication is critical for controlling various physiological activities within and outside the cell. This paper describes a protocol for measuring the spatio-temporal nature of single cell secretions. To achieve this, a multidisciplinary approach is used which integrates label-free nanoplasmonic sensing with live cell imaging.

Factors Affecting Solubility

Compared with pure water, the solubility of an ionic compound is less in aqueous solutions containing a common ion (one also produced by dissolution of the ionic compound). This is an example of a phenomenon known as the common ion effect, which is a consequence of the law of mass action that may be explained using Le Chȃtelier’s principle. Consider the dissolution of silver iodide: This solubility equilibrium may be shifted left by the addition of either silver or iodide ions, resulting in...
