Spatial Imaging Platform

A spatial imaging platform is an integrated system that captures where cells, molecules, or biological structures are located within intact tissues, linking spatial organization to function. It typically combines high-resolution microscopy with image analysis and, in some workflows, spatially resolved molecular measurements to identify and map features across a specimen. In developmental biology, these platforms reveal how cells change position, communicate, and organize into tissues as an embryo develops. By preserving spatial context, they help researchers connect gene expression and cellular behavior with tissue architecture, improving studies of pattern formation, morphogenesis, disease models, and regenerative processes.

Spatial Memory Testing Using Mazes

2023

Spatial learning and memory are neurological functions that allow us to remember important details associated with our environment. Scientists test this phenomenon in rodents using different types of mazes like Morris water maze, Radial water maze, and Barnes maze. By investigating spatial memory in rodents, neurobehavioral scientists can gain valuable understanding of how these processes are altered following brain damage in humans. Here, the neurobiology behind spatial memory is briefly...

Spatial Cueing

Source: Laboratory of Jonathan Flombaum—Johns Hopkins University Attention refers to the limited human ability to select some information for processing at the expense of other stimuli in the environment. Attention operates in all sensory modalities: vision, hearing, touch, even taste and smell. It is most often studied in the visual domain though. A common way to study visual attention is with a spatial cueing paradigm. This paradigm allows researchers to measure the consequences of focusing...
