Aluminum Alloy Conductor

An aluminum alloy conductor is an electrical conductor made primarily from aluminum combined with other elements to balance conductivity, strength, weight, and durability. It carries current through the movement of electrons, while controlled alloy composition and mechanical processing can improve tensile strength, flexibility, and resistance to deformation compared with pure aluminum. These properties make aluminum alloy conductors valuable in engineering applications such as overhead power transmission, distribution lines, and electrical cables, where low mass can reduce structural loads and installation demands. Their performance supports efficient infrastructure design while requiring careful consideration of conductivity, mechanical reliability, and environmental conditions.

Stress-Strain Characteristics of Aluminum

2023

Source: Roberto Leon, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA Aluminum is one of the most abundant materials in our lives, as it is omnipresent in everything from soda cans to airplane components. Its widespread use is relatively recent (1900AD), primarily because aluminum does not occur in its free state, but rather in combination with oxygen and other elements, often in the form of Al2O3. Aluminum was originally obtained from bauxite mineral deposits...

Nanocrystalline Alloys and Nano-grain Size Stability

Source: Sina Shahbazmohamadi and Peiman Shahbeigi-Roodposhti-Roodposhti, School of Engineering, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT Alloys with grain size less than 100 nm are known as nanocrystaline alloys. Due to their enhanced physical and mechanical properties, there is an ever-increasing demand to employ them in various industries such as semiconductor, biosensors and aerospace. To improve the processing and application of nanocrystalline alloys, it is necessary to develop close to 100%...
