Electro Co Flow

Electro co-flow is a fluid-processing technique that uses an electric field to control the breakup of co-flowing liquid streams, enabling precise generation of droplets, jets, or encapsulated structures. In a typical setup, immiscible fluids move through aligned channels while electrical stresses act at the liquid interface; the balance between electrostatic, viscous, and interfacial forces determines whether the system forms a stable jet or undergoes controlled breakup. This approach supports tunable particle and capsule production, including processes relevant to microfluidics, electrohydrodynamic spraying, and materials engineering. By adjusting flow rates, fluid properties, and applied voltage, researchers can control size, uniformity, and composition.

2024

Electromechanical systems are intricate configurations that effectively combine electrical and mechanical elements to achieve a desired outcome. Central to many of these systems is the DC motor, a device that converts electrical energy into mechanical motion, enabling various applications ranging from simple fans to complex robotic mechanisms. A key component of the DC motor is the armature, a rotating circuit positioned within a magnetic field. As an electric current passes through the...

2023

EEG is a non-invasive technique that can measure brain activity. The neural activity generates electrical signals that are recorded by EEG electrodes placed on the scalp. When an individual is engaged in performing a cognitive task, brain activity changes and these changes can be recorded on the EEG graph. Therefore, it is a powerful tool for cognitive scientist aiming to better understand the neural correlates associated with different aspects of cognition, which will ultimately help them...

As an analytical technique, nanoimpact electrochemistry, an increasingly important approach to counting and characterizing nanometer-scale, electro-inactive particles, suffers from poor precision due to the heterogeneous current distributions that arise from its use of ultramicroelectrodes. Outlined here is a generalized approach, termed "electrocatalytic interruption," that enhances precision in such measurements.

Stereo-electroencephalography (SEEG) aids in localization of epileptogenic zones, however, remains relatively underutilized in the United States. The goal of this abstract is to provide a brief introduction to the technique of SEEG and further a detailed technique of using robotic assistance in the placement of SEEG electrodes.
