Hybrid-frequency Sampling

Hybrid-frequency sampling is a signal-acquisition strategy that uses two or more sampling frequencies to represent a signal more efficiently or capture information that a single rate may miss. It works by collecting measurements at distinct rates or combining frequency-selective sampling paths, then aligning and processing the resulting data to reconstruct the signal while managing bandwidth, timing, and aliasing constraints. In engineering, this approach can support broadband sensing, communications, instrumentation, and condition monitoring, especially when signals contain components with widely different frequencies. Its value lies in balancing measurement fidelity, hardware demands, data volume, and real-time processing requirements.

IR Absorption Frequency: Hybridization

2024

Hydrocarbons such as alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes show characteristic C–H stretching absorption bands. These IR stretching frequencies depend on the hybridization of the involved carbon atom and can be explained in terms of the s character of each hybridized atomic orbital. Among the sp, sp2, and sp3 hybridized orbitals, sp orbitals have the maximum s character (50%). Consequently, the electrons are held more closely to the nucleus, resulting in stronger and shorter C–H bonds that stretch at a...

A scanner for imaging magnetic particles in planar samples was developed using the planar frequency mixing magnetic detection technique. The magnetic intermodulation product response from the nonlinear nonhysteretic magnetization of the particles is recorded upon a two-frequency excitation. It can be used to take 2D images of thin biological samples.
