Time-stretch Imaging Concept

Time-stretch imaging is an ultrafast imaging concept that captures events too rapid for conventional cameras by converting temporal information into a slower, measurable waveform. A broadband optical pulse records an object or scene, and dispersive elements delay different wavelengths by different amounts, stretching the encoded signal in time before detection and digitization. This approach enables real-time observation of transient phenomena, high-throughput inspection, and single-shot measurements that would otherwise require repeated experiments. In engineering, time-stretch imaging supports the development of optical instruments, high-speed sensors, biomedical imaging systems, and manufacturing-monitoring tools where speed, sensitivity, and continuous data acquisition are essential.

2015

A novel imaging protocol was developed using a custom motor-driven mechanical actuator to allow the measurement of real time responses to mechanical strain in live cells. Relevant to mechanobiology, the system can apply strains up to 20% while allowing near real-time imaging with confocal or atomic force microscopy.

Self-Concept

2025

Self-concept is the cognitive and emotional understanding individuals hold about their identity. It evolves through various developmental stages, beginning in infancy and maturing as children grow. This concept influences how individuals perceive their abilities, interact with others, and manage challenges throughout life. Infancy and Emerging Recognition During infancy, self-concept is virtually nonexistent. Babies do not distinguish themselves as separate entities and often mistake their...
