Portable Biochar Kiln

A portable biochar kiln is a movable device that converts plant-based biomass into biochar, a carbon-rich material, through controlled thermal decomposition. The kiln heats dry organic matter under limited oxygen, promoting pyrolysis rather than complete combustion and producing solid biochar along with gases and vapors. Its portability allows treatment of agricultural residues, forestry waste, and other biomass near the source, reducing transport needs and open burning. In environmental applications, the resulting biochar can support soil amendment, carbon storage, and nutrient management, while portable kiln designs provide a practical option for decentralized biomass conversion and resource recovery.
