Acrylic Stage

An acrylic stage is a rigid, transparent platform that supports and stabilizes specimens, instruments, or experimental subjects during laboratory procedures, particularly when controlled positioning is essential. Its fixed surface helps maintain alignment and limit movement, while the acrylic material permits light transmission and visual monitoring during imaging or manipulation. In immunology and infection research, an acrylic stage can support microscopy-based examination of cells, tissues, or host–pathogen interactions, helping researchers obtain consistent observations and reproducible measurements. Its simple, adaptable design is useful in teaching laboratories and experimental setups that require accessible sample positioning without obstructing the optical path.

2016

A novel methodology is presented to synthesize and program main-chain liquid-crystalline elastomers using commercially available starting monomers. A wide range of thermomechanical properties was tailored by adjusting the amount of crosslinker, while the actuation performance was dependent on the amount of applied strain during programming.

Stages of Sleep

2024

Sleep progresses through distinct stages, each characterized by specific brain wave patterns and physiological responses ranging from wakefulness to stages of non-rapid eye movement, known as non-REM, to rapid eye movement, referred to as REM. Understanding these stages helps in recognizing how sleep supports various bodily and cognitive functions. Before sleep begins, in wakefulness, the brain exhibits primarily beta waves, which are high in frequency and low in amplitude, indicating alertness...
