Spike Protein Antibody

Spike protein antibodies are immune proteins that recognize specific regions, or epitopes, of the surface spike glycoprotein used by coronaviruses to enter host cells. They work by binding the spike protein and may block its interaction with host-cell receptors or interfere with the structural changes required for membrane fusion, thereby reducing viral entry. In immunology and infection research, these antibodies support serological testing, antigen detection, neutralization assays, and evaluation of vaccine-induced or infection-induced immune responses. Their binding patterns also help researchers monitor viral variants, compare immune escape, and assess potential therapeutic or diagnostic applications.
