Multiplication Expressions

Multiplication expressions are mathematical statements that represent repeated scaling or the product of two or more factors, using numbers, variables, and operations such as coefficients and exponents. They are evaluated by multiplying numerical factors, applying exponent rules to repeated factors, and using the distributive property to expand products over sums; like terms can then be combined when simplifying algebraic results. In mathematics, multiplication expressions provide a foundation for solving equations, representing area and volume, modeling proportional relationships, and translating real-world quantities into algebraic form. Reading their structure accurately helps students connect arithmetic procedures with more advanced symbolic reasoning.

Regulation of Expression Occurs at Multiple Steps

2020

Gene expression can be regulated at almost every step from gene to protein. Transcription is the step that is most commonly regulated. This involves the binding of proteins to short regulatory sequences on the DNA. This association can either promote or inhibit the transcription of a gene associated with the respective sequence. Transcription results in the generation of precursor (pre-mRNA) that consists of both exons and introns, which needs further processing before being translated to a...

The gene expression in cells is regulated at different stages: (i) transcription, (ii) RNA processing, (iii) RNA localization, and (iv) translation. Transcriptional regulation is mediated by regulatory proteins such as transcription factors, activators, or repressors—these control gene expression by initiating or inhibiting the transcription of genes. Once a precursor or pre-mRNA is produced, it undergoes post-transcriptional modification, including 5' capping, splicing, and the addition of a...

Fast and Efficient Expression of Multiple Proteins in Avian Embryos Using mRNA Electroporation

2019

We report messenger RNA (mRNA) electroporation as a method that permits fast and efficient expression of multiple proteins in the quail embryo model system. This method can be used to fluorescently label cells and record their in vivo movements by time-lapse microscopy shortly after electroporation.

Co-expression of Multiple Chimeric Fluorescent Fusion Proteins in an Efficient Way in Plants

2018

We have developed a novel method for co-expressing multiple chimeric fluorescent fusion proteins in plants to overcome the difficulties of conventional methods. It takes advantage of using a single expression plasmid that contains multiple functionally independent protein expressing cassettes to achieve protein co-expression.
