Multiplication Patterns

Multiplication patterns are recurring relationships in products that reveal how numbers change when one or both factors vary, making arithmetic more predictable and efficient. These patterns arise from repeated addition, equal groups, skip-counting sequences, and place-value rules; for example, multiplying by 10 shifts each digit one place to the left in the decimal system. Recognizing such regularities helps students build multiplication fluency, estimate results, and check calculations without computing every step from scratch. In mathematics, multiplication patterns also provide a foundation for understanding factors, multiples, number properties, algebraic rules, and more advanced concepts such as sequences and mathematical generalization.

When protons A and X are coupled, their nuclear spin energy levels are slightly modified. This is because the energy required to excite proton A to a spin state parallel to proton X is slightly different from the energy required for it to become anti-parallel to spin X. Consequently, there are two possible excitation frequencies for A (A1 and A2), depending on the spin state of X, and vice versa. The mutual nature of coupling implies that the difference between frequencies A1 and A2, indicated...

Classical multivariate pattern analysis predicts sensory stimuli a subject perceives from neural activity in the corresponding cortices (e.g. visual stimuli from activity in visual cortex). Here, we apply pattern analysis cross-modally and show that sound- and touch-implying visual stimuli can be predicted from activity in auditory and somatosensory cortices, respectively.
