Continuous Measurement Mode

Continuous Measurement Mode is an operating setting in medical monitoring systems that acquires and reports physiological data continuously or at closely spaced intervals rather than through isolated readings. Sensors detect a biological signal, convert it into electronic data, and transmit repeated measurements to a monitor or recording system, allowing changes to be viewed as trends over time. In medicine, this mode supports ongoing observation of parameters such as heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, or glucose when sustained monitoring is clinically relevant. Continuous data can help identify gradual changes, transient abnormalities, and responses to treatment, supporting timely assessment and more informed clinical decisions.

Ultra-high frequency ultrasound is a powerful live imaging tool to examine cardiac abnormalities in small animals. Its noninvasiveness allows maintaining the physiologic state of embryos. Herein, we show the use of M-mode ultrasound to measure the heart rates of embryos at E18.5 in utero.

Here, we present the protocol for in situ measurement of soil carbon using the neutron-gamma technique for single point measurements (static mode) or field averages (scanning mode). We also describe system construction and elaborate data treatment procedures.

Automation of Mode Locking in a Nonlinear Polarization Rotation Fiber Laser through Output Polarization Measurements

A protocol to detect and automate mode locking in a pre-adjusted nonlinear polarization rotation fiber laser is presented. The detection of a sudden change in the output polarization state when mode locking occurs is used to command the alignment of an intra-cavity polarization controller in order to find mode-locking conditions.

What is a Mode?

The mode is one of the commonly used measures of a central tendency. It is defined as the most frequent value in a data set. There can be more than one mode in a data set if multiple values have the same highest frequency. For instance, suppose that the Statistics exam scores of 20 students are: 50; 53; 59; 59; 63; 63; 72; 72; 72; 72; 72; 76; 78; 81; 83; 84; 84; 84; 90; 93. Here, the mode is 72, as it occurs most frequently, five times. A data set with two modes is called bimodal. For example,...
