Continuous Outcome Model

A Continuous Outcome Model is a statistical framework for analyzing medical outcomes measured on a numerical scale, such as blood pressure, laboratory values, symptom scores, or lung function. It models how one or more predictors relate to changes in a continuous response, typically by estimating effects while accounting for unexplained variation and, when appropriate, other covariates. In medicine, these models support clinical research by comparing treatment groups, quantifying risk-factor associations, and evaluating changes over time. Their results can clarify the magnitude and uncertainty of observed effects, helping researchers interpret therapeutic benefits, disease progression, and patient-level measurements.

Batch and Continuous Bioreactors

2023

Bioreactors are used to grow organisms in large volumes, thereby enabling the production of mass quantities of the target product. These reactors can be batch reactors, which contain all of the components needed for cell growth, or continuous reactors, which have inlet and outlet ports allowing for the addition of fresh growth media and the removal of cell waste. This video presents batch and continuous reactors and demonstrates the use of bioreactors to grow bacteria in the laboratory.

Here we demonstrate the use of a wireless enabling technology for electroencephalogram (EEG) in neonatal rodent models of human disease. With telemetry, there are no encumbering connections, thus allowing natural behaviors.

Equation of Continuity

Fluid motion is represented by either velocity vectors or streamlines. The volume of a fluid flowing past a given location through an area during a period of time is called the flow rate Q, or more precisely, the volume flow rate. Flow rate and velocity are related—for instance, a river has a greater flow rate if the velocity of the water in it is greater. However, the flow rate also depends on the size and shape of the river. The relationship between flow rate (Q) and average speed (v)...
