Ct Mri Segmentation

CT and MRI segmentation is the process of partitioning medical images into meaningful anatomical structures or regions, converting complex scans into information that can be measured and interpreted. In practice, clinicians or computational methods label pixels or three-dimensional voxels using image intensity, tissue contrast, spatial relationships, and learned patterns to separate organs, tumors, vessels, or other targets from surrounding tissue. The resulting masks support volumetric measurement, disease characterization, treatment planning, surgical guidance, and monitoring over time. Reliable segmentation also enables quantitative analysis and training data for medical imaging research, although accuracy depends on image quality, anatomy, and validation.

Introduction: MRI and CT scans are crucial advancements in medical imaging techniques, playing a vital role in diagnosing conditions related to the gastrointestinal (GI) system. Each scan serves distinct purposes, targets specific areas, and requires unique nursing duties. Description of the Procedures Computed Tomography (CT) scan: Computed Tomography (CT) scans use X-ray technology to generate detailed images of bones, organs, and tissues. During the scan, the patient lies on a moving table...

Goergen, Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana Here we will demonstrate the fundamentals of single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) imaging using mice. The technique involves injecting a radionuclide into a mouse, imaging the animal after it is distributed throughout the body, and then reconstructing the produced images to create a volumetric dataset. This can...
