Fluorescent Agent Injection

Fluorescent agent injection is a medical imaging technique that introduces a light-responsive compound into the body to make specific tissues, vessels, or physiological processes visible. After administration, the agent distributes according to its chemical properties or biological targets; when illuminated with an appropriate excitation wavelength, its fluorophore emits longer-wavelength light that specialized cameras detect. Clinicians and researchers use this approach to assess blood flow and tissue perfusion, guide minimally invasive and surgical procedures, identify anatomical structures, and investigate disease-related changes. By providing real-time or near-real-time visual information, fluorescent imaging can support more precise diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring.

2025

In this video, we describe a method for implanting a catheter into the jugular vein of a mouse model through which experimental agents such as drugs and tracer dyes can be delivered intravenously in vivo. Such an arrangement when connected to other systems can also be used for monitoring hemodynamics and blood sampling.

Source: Vy M. Dong and Daniel Kim, Department of Chemistry, University of California, Irvine, CA Controlling the reactivity and selectivity during the synthesis of a molecule is very important criteria for chemists. This has led to the development of many reagents that allow chemists to pick and choose reagents suitable for a given task. Quite often, a balance between reactivity and selectivity needs to be achieved. This experiment will use IR spectroscopy to monitor the reaction and to...
